One For The Money

The Seattle Mariners got us a win last time out. The great Lou Brown once said "We won a game yesterday, if we win one today that's two in a row. If we win one tomorrow that's called a winning streak". So lets win one today and continue the winning streak! Todays action takes us to the nations capital as the Atlanta Braves visit the Washington Nationals for the final game of the series.

Game: Atlanta Braves Vs. Washington Nationals

Location: Nationals Park, DC

Time: 4:05 est.

Line: Washington -110

The Nationals have stumbled out of the gate, which has been their story the last few years and then they catch fire and turn it around. They head into tonight's game 5-5 in their last 10 and looking to avoid the sweep to their division rivals. They will send Jon Lester to the mound for his second start this year. Its tough to know what to expect out of him, but his first start went well going 5 innings and allowing 5 hits and no runs. Trea Turner and his .314 batting average, 7 homers and 12 RBIs is leading an offense that should be better then it is right now.

The Braves just cant string together series winnings, you think they have it figured out and are righting the ship and then they go on a losing streak. They are also 5-5 in their last 10 but have taken the first two games of the series. Ronald Acuna Jr has been every bit of the star he is so far this year. He lead the Braves attack with a .327 batting average, 10 homers and 21 RBIs. The Braves will send Drew Smyly to the mound looking for the sweep. Smyly has struggled early on going 0-2 with an ERA over 8. Its even worse when you dive into the numbers, he has allowed 21 runs, 22 hits, and 9 homers in just 19 innings of work.

The Braves would love to finish off the sweep of their division rivals on the road, but sending Smyly to the hill doesn't bode well. He has struggled so far this year and its been worse lately, in his last 13 innings, he has given up 15 earned runs and 8 homers. The Braves have also struggled against left handed pitching going 1-4 in their last 5. Jon Lester may still be an unknown at this point, but he fits the bill today. I think the National offense finds some momentum against a struggling pitcher, avoid the home sweep, and get the win today for us.
