One For The Money

Las Vegas put a scare into us last night, going down 2-0 early to the Wild, but bounced back for a comfortable 5-2 win and pushed our winning streak to 3 in a row. Tonight's action takes us North of the border, where the Winnipeg Jets take on the Edmonton Oilers in game two of their series. The Jets handled the potent Oilers offense in game one to take away home ice, can they do it again? Lets see if we cant get 4 in row tonight and continue our winning streak.

Game: Winnipeg Jets @ Edmonton Oilers

Location: Rogers Place, Edmonton

Time: 9:00 est.

Line: Edmonton -160 O/U 5.5 -115

The Jets stole game one with a physical and gritty performance, handing the Oilers the loss and taking away home ice advantage. Connor Hellebuyck played stellar, allowing just one goal on 33 shots. His play combined with the Jets defensive effort kept the potent duo of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl off the score sheet. The offense came late but the stars showed out in the end, as Kyle Connor and Blake Wheeler both notched a goal and assist, and Mark Scheifele chipped in 2 assists.

Another disappointing playoff start for the Edmonton Oilers, losing game one and home ice advantage. Mike Smith played admirably stopping 18 of the 20 shots he faced, but took the loss. His play wasn't the reason for their lose, but the usual powerful offense being held in check was. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl were split up on in game 1 and it resulted in both of them not getting the chances they are used to. I look for that to change tonight.

I think the Oilers even up the series tonight, but they can't be trusted with a shaky defense and a history of playoff flops. The Jets could be a good bet, with Vezina trophy candiate Hellebuyck between the pipes. I pegged this series as being one of the highest scoring and game one was a 2-1 slugfest until two empty netters pushed the lead to 3 very late. I think McDavid and Draisaitl are paired up tonight and bring their "A" game to try and even the series. They will put on an offensive show and the Jets will counter with a strong offensive attack lead by Wheeler, Connor, and Scheifele against an Oiler defense that scares no one. Give me the over 5.5 and a shootout in Edmonton tonight.
