One For The Money

The Nationals couldn't get to Drew Smyly and got swept by the Atlanta Braves, giving us a loss yesterday. Todays matchup takes us to the West Coast and the battle of Los Angeles, as the Dodgers make the cross town trip to visit the Angels. Lets get back into the win column today.

Game: Los Angeles Dodgers Vs Los Angeles Angels

Location: Angels Stadium

Time: 9:40 est.

Line: Los Angeles Dodgers -155

The Angels come into tonight losers of five straight. Mike Trout has been his usual stellar self hitting .380 with 8 homers and 17 RBIs. Shohei Ohtani is having a great year as well, batting .273 and leading the Angels attack with 10 homers and 24 RBIs. Jared Walsh has been a pleasant surprise so far, hitting at a .330 clip adding 6 homers and 22 RBIs. Those numbers look great but haven't translated to runs lately, as the offense has gone into a slump, scoring 3 or less in those five losses. Griffin Canning takes the mound tonight looking to halt the slide. Canning hasn't looked good so far, sporting a 2-2 record with a 6.20 era.

The coronation and parades have been put on hold, as the slumping Dodgers have lost 8 of their last 10 games. Julio Urias and his 4-0 record and sparkling 2.87 ERA takes the hill, looking to halt the slide. His .88 WHIP and 42 to 5 strikeout to walk ratio is not what the struggling Angels offense wants to see right now. The powerful lineup has lost its mojo and is really missing Cody Bellinger. Mookie Betts has been driving the struggle bus, the MVP caliber outfielder is hitting just .248 with 3 homers and 6 RBIs. Cory Seager has at least been driving in runs with 18 RBIs, despite his .250 batting average. Justin Turner has been the bright spot so far. The veteran third basement is hitting at a .333 clip, with 7 homers and 22 RBIs.

The Dodgers have been killing sports bettors lately with their steep money lines and terrible play. We wont get many chances with a reasonable line and in a losing streaking spot to bet them. The Dodgers have some trends in their favor as well, going 23-8 in interleague play and winners of 6 straight against their crosstown rivals. I think Griffin Canning and his 6.20 ERA is just what the doctor ordered for the struggling Dodgers offense to find its footing. Julio Urias has been stellar in the early going and is not what the struggling Angels offense wants to see right now. His pitching should get the Dodgers and more importantly us back in the win column.

Why we shouldn’t be depressed about the ALCS loss

Now I am not going to pretend that I was in a good mood after that performance by the Red Sox last night, or Wednesday night. I’m not going to pretend that it’s not disappointing to come so close and
