Football Funds: College Edition

What a week 4, we came out of the gates swinging with a clean sweep! It always nice to make people some money, but this is gambling so you can go from hero to zero week to week, lets hope we can avoid that with a very interesting card this week.

YTD RECORD:

NFL: 2-1 +0.9 units

NCAA: 3-0 +2.5 units

Southern Mississippi @ North Texas

Line: North Texas -1.5 Over/Under 71.5

Lets get out of the gates with a good old fashion shootout! Both squads are defensively challenged! Southern Miss just gave up 66 last week to Tulane and North Texas has given up 31 to Houston Baptist and 65 to SMU last week. Southern Miss is actually 69th out of 72 teams national in rush defense and The Mean Green can exploit that weakness, with a ground game clicking along at 286 yards per game. Southern Miss however can take advantage of a North Texas defense that cant stop a nose bleed, ranking 68th in pass defense and 62nd in rush defense! The total is a tad high for a team averaging 300 yards on the ground against a team that cant stop the rush, but I think both these squads get into the upper 30s and push the total over.

Pick: Over 71.5 (.5 units)

Oklahoma State @ Kansas

Line: Oklahoma State -22.5 Over/Under 54

I have been clowning my good buddy Davis about his Cowboys offense all year, but they better get healthy this week against Kansas. For the Jayhawks its the same story, different year having lost to Coastal Carolina 38-23 in week 1 and then opening Big 12 play getting hammered by Baylor 47-17. The Cowboys offense was supposed to be a strength, but QB issues have them off to a slow start, nothing cures offensive ills like the Jayhawks. I don't trust Kansas to hold up their end of an over against a stingy Cowboy defensive, but the Cowboys offense and Chuba Hubbard finally explode and put up 40 on the Jayhawks.

Pick: Oklahoma State Team Total over 37.5 (1 unit)

Only two games this week guys, sometimes in gambling if you aren't confident in the games, less is more. There are a few SEC contest I just want to watch and get my bearings on before really diving in, lets get these two wins and move on to next week and a step closer for all of college football to be back!

Why we shouldn’t be depressed about the ALCS loss

Now I am not going to pretend that I was in a good mood after that performance by the Red Sox last night, or Wednesday night. I’m not going to pretend that it’s not disappointing to come so close and
