Season Record: 3-0
Week one of the English Premier League season has come and gone and we saw some phenomenal matches. Some notable ones include Leeds, who played Liverpool to a tight finish, and Arsenal who rolled over Fulham. Now Kenneth absolutely smashed his predictions, but he decided to turn it over to the experts over in the United Kingdom to give their predictions moving forward. So let's look at the two games to bet on and which ones to avoid for week two. I will also provide you with all of my predictions this week for the remaining games.
Fixtures To Bet On
Manchester United V Crystal Palace
Saturday, September 19th
10:30 AM CST
Old Trafford
Last Meeting: July 16th, 2020 Manchester United 2-0
In the last 15 matches in all competitions, between these two sides, Crystal Palace has won just one, which came in a surprising 2-1 victory in this exact fixture last year. However, in this case, I do not see history repeating itself. United were a different breed of a football team in the second half of last season, thanks mainly to Bruno Fernandes, (MY CAPTAIN ON FANTASY FOOTBALL THIS WEEKEND). United have seen the transfer moves that teams around them, have made and will know, that if they want to finish in those Champion League spots this year again, or even provide a potential title run, they will have to start quickly.
I’m excited to see new signing, Van de Beek this season, who looked very promising in United’s Pre-Season fixture against Villa last time out. The questions over there ability on the defensive end will no doubt be asked again, so they will want to start with a clean sheet this time out, against a Palace side who lacked goals and attacking threat last season. Last weekend, Palace got an impressive 1-0 victory over Southampton, which was largely provided by the goalkeeping talent from Vicente Guaita. Guaita was instrumental in Palace’s points tally finishing how it did last year, but I’m not sure he will be able to keep Palace in the game, with United’s offensive threats for a whole 90 minutes. For me, a comfortable victory for United in their Premier League season opener.
Prediction: Manchester United 3 Crystal Palace 0
Everton V West Bromwich
Saturday, September 19th
5:30 AM CST
Goodison park
Last Meeting: Jan. 20th, 2018 1-1
Due to the absence of West Brom in the top flight for a few seasons now, you have to go back to January 2018, to find the last time these two came together, which resulted in a 1-1 draw. Whilst overall the games between these sides are fairly equal with Everton sneaking the all-time record 69W/39D/59L. Last time out, these sides had very different results in the opening weekend. Everton produced an excellent away performance to steal all three points against Spurs, whilst the Baggies were perhaps lucky to only lose 3-0 when they came up against Leicester.
I’m really excited to see how Everton get on this year. Ancelotti, now in his second year, has had the opportunity to bring in the players and philosophy he wants at the football club, and that he has. Both new signings Allan and James looked to be great acquisitions to the Toffee’s on the weekend, and they caused a great threat going forward all game long. Additionally, Pickford provided one of his best performances between the sticks, I have seen in a long time, which is great to see for both Everton and England football fans.
Unfortunately, my hope for West Brom this season is a polar opposite. Defensively they looked fragile against the Foxes and going forward, I don’t see a player or players where they will easily get 10-15 goals. Unless they can bring in a big signing in both areas of the pitch, then I think their stay in the Premier League will be a short one, no matter how good Sam Johnstone is in goal. Everton win comfortably as well
Prediction: Everton 3 West Bromwich 1

Fixture To Avoid
Aston Villa v Sheffield United
Monday, September 21st
11:00 AM CST
Villa Park
Last Meeting: June 17th, 2020 0-0
Over the past few seasons, these sides have come together in some truly memorable encounters, especially the last two to take place at Villa Park. 2 years ago, Villa scored 3 goals in the last ten minutes, as Sheffield United threw away a certain three points, with the game ending 3-3. Whilst last year's drama at Villa Park came due to the failure of goal-line technology, wrongly not allowing a Blades goal, leading to a goalless draw, which would turn out to be a vital point in Villa’s season.
This time out, uncertainty again overshadows this game, in terms of who will be leaving with the spoils. Villa who have yet to start their Premier League campaign will be looking to get off to a fast start, especially with their three new signings, in the form of Martinez, Watkins, and Cash. They have however registered one fixture this season, with a 3-1 victory over League 1 Burton Albion in the Carabao Cup, with goals from newcomer Watkins, as well as club captain, who on the day signed a new 5-year contract, Jack Grealish, also putting himself on the scoresheet. Although the scoreline may seem comfortable, the performance was far from, and Villa has a lot to prove come Monday night and for the entirety of this season. Sheffield United, also have many questions to answer after a lackluster 2-0 defeat against Wolves last weekend. The drop in form of the Blades, was clear to see, post lockdown last season, and Chris Wilder’s boys will know to replicate their 9th place from last season, they’ll have to play much better than last time out. Overall, I’ve got Villa sneaking it out, but we will see if they can.
Prediction: Aston Villa 2 Sheffield United 1
Remaining Games
Leeds United 1-1 Fulham
Arsenal 2-1 West Ham United
Southampton 0-1 Tottenham Hotspur
Newcastle United 1-1 Brighton & Hove Albion
Chelsea 2-2 Liverpool
Leicester City 2-0 Burnley
Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-3 Manchester City
