5 Draft Night Trades That Will Change the NBA Landscape

BCMG will be live on draft night! We will be on both the Into The Lab Podcast live show here and the Shooters Shoot Basketball Podcast live show here We have contests, giveaways, and much much more!

Draft night is notorious for blockbuster trades. We have seen players such as Kobe Bryant, Scottie Pippen - and most recently - Luka Doncic, all get traded on draft night. Experts are predicting a wild NBA draft tonight and with so much uncertainty surrounding the prospects and their fit for certain teams, I would expect many players to be dealt come draft time. Here are some trades that I can see happening.

Hawks Trade Down

Kings receive: Pick No. 6, Pick No. 50, Kevin Huerter

Hawks receive: Pick No. 12, Buddy Hield

There has been plenty of rumors surrounding the name of Buddy Hield. This is the perfect opportunity for Atlanta to steal Hield from contending teams such as Philly or Dallas. For the Hawks, having someone like Hield alongside Trae Young makes the most sense. They have been trying to replicate their version of the splash brothers for a while now and this is their best chance of doing that.

Philly Gets a Shooter

Kings receive: Pick No. 21, Al Horford

76ers receive: Buddy Hield

Yes, another Hield trade. Buddy has made it clear that he does not want to stay in Sacramento, so he has inevitably made it to the trade block. For the Sixers, this is an ideal trade. Getting rid of that Al Horford contract is a must at this point. Philly brings in another shooter who also helps build up their depth at the wing/guard position.

Timberwolves Give up First Pick

Pacers receive: Pick No.1, James Johnson, and Jarrett Culver

Timberwolves receive: Victor Oladipo

Victor Oladipo is a guy who has been on the trade market for the past couple of months now. His style of play would work well alongside D'Angelo Russell and Karl-Anthony Towns. If there was ever a year to trade the first overall pick, it would be this year. I expect the Timberwolves to pick up every phone call regarding the first pick. If this trade goes through, I think we see LaMelo Ball emerge as the first overall pick.

Hornets Continue their Tankathon

76ers receive: Terry Rozier

Hornet receive: Pick No. 21, Al Horford, Zhaire Smith

Again, the Sixers are in a position where they have no choice but to trade Horford and his contract. For the Hornets, they get to add a draft pick to their tally along with trading away an older guard who didn't fit their system. Rozier could easily be a 15 point scorer off the bench for Philadelphia. When Ben Simmons got injured last year, the 76ers lack of depth at the guard position was exposed. Rozier could be exactly what they need as a depth piece.

Warriors Go All In for Championship

Bulls receive: Pick No. 2, Andrew Wiggins, Jordan Poole, Pick No. 49

Warriors receive: Pick No. 4, Otto Porter Jr., Wendell Carter Jr.

The Warriors have made it clear that they have no plans of rebuilding two years in a row. With this trade, they still have a top 4 draft pick, receive good role players and no longer are responsible for the Andrew Wiggins contract. For the Bulls, they have now filled the hole in their wing position. Chicago can also draft LaMelo Ball with the 2nd overall pick, adding even more depth to the team.
